How You'll Make an Impact
The Sr. Director translates a deep understanding of the marketplace, including current and future competitive pressures, into integrated enterprise objectives. The strategy will help the enterprise stay relevant to consumers and influence industry and regulators.
You will:
- Lead development and execution of the enterprise-wide safety & sustainability impact strategy including strong safety & sustainability standards to improve the safety of products/technologies and to prevent and reduce environmental harms.
- Builds strong relationships with leaders across the organization, particularly the leaders of our focus areas of cars, home and baby, enabling effective, disciplined cross-functional, adaptive management based on emergent challenges and opportunities.
- Communicates with external stakeholders, including media, manufacturers, non-profit partners and policymakers to build partnerships to advance the work and to expand CR’s visibility and relevance.
- Works with the philanthropic partnerships team to support the fundraising efforts for the safety & sustainability work including engaging with funders.
- Develop and communicate progress on goals, milestones, and success metrics for the safety & sustainability impact strategy.
- Develop the safety & sustainability impact team talent by actively identifying relevant strengths and opportunities and providing or securing appropriate coaching, training and development.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the organization's business and enterprise objectives to support integration across the organization.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends in safety and sustainability in the CR’s areas of focus - cars, home, baby and the digital marketplace.
- Understand changing consumer behaviors and needs around safety & sustainability in the areas of cars, home, baby & digital marketplace.
- Complete training and professional development requirements in a timely manner.
- Perform all duties in accordance with CRValues, Compliance Program, and other policies and procedures
- Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned or requested.

CR members have relied on us to provide valuable, unbiased insights into the safety, performance and efficiency of each vehicle we test. You’ll be an integral part of this process.
In this position you will drive test cars daily and provide feedback and insights regarding various aspects of the vehicles. This includes setting up test equipment, and involvement in vehicle dynamics testing. As we purchase every vehicle we test from a dealership, you’ll also be involved in that process, interacting with dealers and organizing vehicle pick-up.
You will also assist the Junior Automotive Engineer in making sure CR’s database is up to date and accurate--noting year over year model changes via manufacturer’s specs, CR generated date and test results. You’ll also help update content to be published including reviewing/fact-checking other written content and videos for accuracy under deadlines and flagging current details and developments in the industry.

This position requires the candidate to have a critical eye for detail and a desire to be thorough as they will be responsible for updating year over year model change, like manufacturer specs, CR generated data and test results, plus updating written road tests for publishing. Additional responsibilities include reviewing/fact-checking other written content and videos for accuracy under deadlines, flagging current details and developments in the industry. He/she will also drive test cars daily and provide feedback and insights regarding various aspects of the vehicles.

The role ensures that CR’s editorial differentiation and direction in this space is compelling, consistent, and supports the full enterprise’s objectives to drive growth in impact and revenue. Key to this is understanding the audience, the baby marketplace, CR’s competitive set, and evolving technology related to baby to help CR stay relevant to consumers.
You will:
- Lead execution of editorial strategy for baby, including the creation of content across channels (digital, social, video) and writing and editing content.
- Select product categories for ratings, reviews, and updates to maintain relevance and currency with parent audiences.
- Identify and execute on partnerships and new products and services that expand CR’s reach and revenue.
- Serve as CR’s expert on the baby category externally, including in the press and on social media.
- Align and execute on the enterprise-wide baby strategy by building strong relationships with leaders across the organization, including in testing, marketing, new ventures, and social impact.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the organization's business and enterprise objectives to understand how the baby vertical integrates with the whole.
- Understand changing consumer behaviors and changing marketplace around baby related products.
- Build and maintain relationships with freelance writers and subject matter experts.

As the Home Lead, this role provides vision and marketplace expertise in the Home category enterprise-wide for CR. The incumbent provides a unified strategy and delivery across functions for Home and ensures that CR’s enterprise differentiation and direction in the home space is compelling, consistent, and supports the full enterprise’s objectives to drive growth in impact and revenue.
Key to this is understanding the marketplace, CR’s competitive set, and changing technology related to home to help CR stay relevant to consumers, the industry, and regulators. You will:
- Define, drive and lead development of the enterprise-wide home vision and strategy to optimize enterprise goals around revenue, growth and impact.
- Serve as CR’s expert on the home category externally: includes as press spokesman, expert to manufacturers and relevant government agencies.

As Associate Director, Product you will develop and prioritize a roadmap for sustainable membership acquisition and growth initiatives based on short and long term organizational objectives, identify opportunities to define metrics and KPI's to track success and make informed, data-driven decisions. You will partner closely with leadership across the organization to align on a strategic approach and to ensure performance goals are met.
The Associate Director will develop product strategies, understand market and customer needs, work with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality digital products, measure and report on product performance and identify opportunities to drive membership growth and high satisfaction.

You will own project delivery of tasks and facilitate collaboration and communication within the team and across departments, ensuring alignment and transparency to promote a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
As Senior DevOps Engineer you will work with several engineering teams to handle multiple infrastructure needs. You will oversee the Consumer Reports infrastructure by creating monitors, responding to alerts, and adopting DevOps common practices. As Sr DevOps Engineer you will support CR and various teams across the organization to build solutions for deploying, monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting and suggesting performance and cost optimizations.
As a Senior member of the team, you will:
- Provide expertise regarding the integration, security, and scalability of applications within a Kubernetes infrastructure.
- Conduct and manage performance tuning, load testing, optimization of information/data processing, maintenance, and support of the production environment to ensure system Health.
- Collaborate with other software engineers, database developers, infrastructure, operations, and QA to design and implement quality software delivery solutions.
- Monitor standards for consistent practices across the department.
- Recommend new automation techniques and solutions to improve efficiency and quality.
- Serve as a technical expert on the most challenging support and troubleshooting problems.
- Mentor and teach existing team members.
