  • Position Overview

    The Manager partners with the Director of New Business & Innovation Planning to manage and evolve the Innovation Pipeline by identifying, evaluating, recommending and piloting new business opportunities for CR. The Manager will use a consumer-centric approach to exploring new strategic “white spaces”, where CR is best positioned to uniquely address consumer needs, by developing new solutions that drive significant revenue growth. This role works closely with the Director, CR Leadership, and other key stakeholders to help prioritize and recommend new business initiatives.

    Qualifications Include

    Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Marketing, Economics, or Business Strategy; MBA preferred

    A minimum of six to eight years of business strategy and innovation experience, including  developing strategic frameworks, analyzing and synthesizing data, and problem-solving 

    Strong conceptual and problem-solving skills

    Strong visualization skills and good understanding of UX in relation to visualization

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present ideas and build consensus with stakeholders

    Ability to persuade internal stakeholders, using a data-driven, strategic approach.

    Strong collaborator, with excellent ability to partner with leadership and other stakeholders

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manages efforts to explore new strategic “white spaces” and prioritizes potential opportunity areas, using a variety of techniques (e.g., “jobs to be done”) to help understand consumer needs and behaviors, market/competitive “gaps”, new technologies, and diverse business models.
    • Partners with Director, other stakeholders to lead ideation sessions (internal, external) and develops concepts for new consumer solutions that have high revenue potential.
    • Leads business opportunity assessment teams to vet high priority concepts for financial attractiveness, operational viability, consumer appeal, etc..
    • Responsible for prioritizing opportunities based on above assessments & presenting strategic opportunities to CR’s Innovation leadership team.
    • Partners with key stakeholders to develop prototypes and market test plans designed to validate concepts.
    • Designs “go-to-market” plans for high priority initiatives and helps develop and launch market. Pilots.
    • Evaluates and communicates current performance of the Innovation Pipeline to Senior Management
    • Takes a leadership role on select strategic priorities for CR, as needed.
    • Makes Consumer Reports mission, vision and strategic plan the lens through which research is conducted and recommendations are made.
    • Prepares reports and presents to executive teams, as needed.
