The Business Systems Analyst will liaise with business users to help define the business processes as well as gather, analyze, and document business requirements with the goal of providing technical solutions/enhancements.
2 - 4+ years experience in systems analysis, programming, project management and new product development (full life cycle).
Must have excellent analytical and problem solving skill and a hands-on approach. Experience with database/data technologies including interfaces and feeds in a variety of formats. (Oracle and XML a plus).
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, staff and external vendors.
Must possess strong facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and Project. Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, work independently for small tasks.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, team environment and be open to change.
Must be detail-oriented and accurate. Familiarity with AWS and “open source” technology a plus (e.g. SOLR, CentOS. WordPress)
Leads functional requirements gathering sessions with the business representatives.
Interface with business users to help define the business processes as well as gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
Document and validate functional requirements with the business and assist in the review of functional requirements with IT.
Ensures that process outputs needed by the project team are created in a timely fashion including business and functional requirements, use cases, flow diagrams, etc.
Tracks the key output documents and notifies the project team of changes and potential impacts to project requirements; initiates change requests when needed.
Maintains and promotes excellent communications within both the business and IT. Work closely with development to define and design business solutions.
Supports applications development by validating and recreating issues reported by the business and work with IT to provide resolutions in a timely manner.
Collaborates with project managers and team leads to identify opportunities to improve functionality of an application and increase operating efficiency.
Lead the user acceptance testing effort.
Works with business owners to developing UAT test plans/cases; coordinates final sign-off of all enhancements with QA, IT and business owners.
Conducts quality assessments of our content enhancements and updates by defining and generating clear metrics to track progress of testing efforts.
Performs other work of the department but not that of a higher grade.
Responsible for writing and maintaining technical documentation.
