  • Position Overview

    Responsible for supporting development and execution of the shopping affiliate revenue strategy and ecommerce functions on consumerreports.org. This role has fiscal responsibility for P&L related to affiliate revenue activity, as well as for general business metrics for traffic, conversion, and user satisfaction.

    Qualifications Include

    • B2C product experience with accountability for financial, customer, and other commonly understood industry benchmarks for success, preferably with a significant Affiliate Shopping or eCommerce component.

    • College degree or equivalent plus a minimum of three to five years product manager work experience developing highly scaled, data-driven web products with significant revenue.

    • Active listening, superior written and oral communication skills.

    • Outstanding multi-tasking ability, prioritization and project management skill.

    • Proficient with Google Apps suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Drive, Gmail, etc.) and  Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio), JIRA .

    • Experience with prototyping and testing tools a must.

    • Proven experience with Agile Scrum and tenure as an Agile Product Owner

    • A strong business sense and deep understanding of the digital landscape

    • Ability to communicate effectively and influence at all levels of the organization

    • Able to work flexible hours and be available for occasional domestic travel

    • Background in or passion for user experience and human-centered design

    • Strong digital network is preferred

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and provide daily direction to cross-functional team initiatives spanning product, IT, content, leadership, finance and other stakeholders

    • Act as Agile Product Owner for Shopping: oversee product backlog, stand-up meetings, sprint planning, review & retrospective sessions

    • Establish and enforce strategic alignment between organizational mission and strategy for the Shopping program

    • Design and conduct continuous testing and optimization of Shopping and eCommerce conversion flows

    • Identify opportunities and translate into requirements, stories and supporting artifacts that articulate simple, elegant solutions to conversion challenges

    • Develop expert understanding of the customer and be able to anticipate and build to their needs and improve their user experience

    • Partner with both internal and external parties to identify knowledge gaps and requisition market research that contributes to a deep understanding of Affiliate Shopping and eCommerce, including both consumer insights and industry research

    • Identify, contact, and collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts, including partners, vendors and trade organizations in order to gather, organize and share market trends and best practices

    • Partner with other product managers/owners and key stakeholders to formulate, coordinate and evangelize product roadmaps and strategic plans

    • Own development of success metrics (P&L, audience, customer satisfaction, etc.) to assess enhancements and track and communicate progress accordingly -- Proactively make recommendations based on where the programs are meeting, exceeding, or missing key performance indicators (KPIs)

    • Train and educate appropriate stakeholders (customer service, editors, marketing, etc.) on new products, services, and enhancements

    • Conduct internal and external product demonstrations, promote product enhancements and new features to build momentum and organizational support of site progress

    • Manage external vendors, contractors and resources

    • Execute other special projects, as assigned
