  • Position Overview

    This role partners with the Vice President, Advocacy to help steward, coordinate and manage the activities of the Advocacy division and to ensure the Vice President and division are successful in achieving their strategic goals. The Manager is responsible for helping the VP set priorities, coordinating the schedule to use time and resources effectively, overseeing budget administration and planning, and completing high-reliability follow-up on task tracking and completion.

     

     

    Qualifications Include

    • Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in leading operations and planning within complex organizations. Experience in a mission-driven organization is highly desirable.
    • Demonstrated ability to execute operationally and navigate organizations to drive for results.
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills; talented communicator and editor.
    • Strong team player with an ability to build relationships in instill trust.
    • Resilience with an ability to focus and stay on track.
    • Solid project management skills: ability to think carefully through the steps to complete a complex task.
    • Experience planning managing, and administering a budget.
    • Proactive, with a proven track record of delivering operational effectiveness, problem solving, and strategic planning.
    • Advanced Microsoft and Google Suite skills and ease with learning new software and databases.
    • An ability to quickly grasp concepts and translate them into documentation.
    • Exceptionally well-organized. 

     

     

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Planning:

    • Supports the VP, Advocacy on strategic planning and helps ensure the division is aligned around a shared set of goals.

    • Tracks, monitors and reports on progress of such plans.

    • Facilitates divisional project management, demonstrating strong organization, prioritization, and leadership in seeing projects through completion.

    Operations Management:

    • Partners with finance, human resources, and legal in matters that impact the advocacy staff.

    • Supports the VP in the construction and management of the departmental expense budget and related operating initiative budgets. Administers the budget and coordinates with finance on quarterly forecasts and other planning. 

    • Reviews and approves purchase orders s for department expenses, researches and resolves issues with invoices. 

    • Facilitates hiring, planning, and other operational aspects of the Advocacy intern program. 

    Corodination:

    • Anticipates the needs of the VP, Advocacy and direct reports and ensures they have the time and resources to focus on the highest level priorities. Proactively removes roadblocks and responds to urgent needs so the Advocacy leadership team is able to deliver on their shared goals.
    • Supports the VP in prioritizing work including document review, approvals, administration of key activities and helps ensure deadlines are met.
    • Supports the VP on internal coordination and alignment across divisions, ensuring smooth communication and information flow, and quick resolution of challenges.
