We are looking for an enterprising, energetic reporter who approaches deal hunting with the passion and discipline of a pro athlete to join CR’s growing Shopping Team. Someone who can apply the skills of a beat reporter to the world of shopping, working closely with the team to build out sources with retailers and ferret out weekly and daily deals to surface through Consumer Reports’ multiple content properties.
CR’s Shopping Program aims to find the best deals for millions of consumers at dozens of online retailers. We combine pricing technology, partnerships with major retailers, and tactical and creative reporting to empower CR members to be savvy shoppers.
This reporter will write regularly about deals, and will also interact regularly with CR’s members through social channels and through our membership platform. He or she will also dialog with them about their interests and fold their real shopper experiences back into service-driven content. In addition, the reporter will spot and surface shopping trends, track holiday sales, and regularly package up tactical consumer advice on how to shop smarter and always score the best deal.
Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience in reporting and writing for a digital media organization, as well as familiarity and facility with multiple social media platforms. Must be familiar with retail trends in the home and technology markets. Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and build and maintain relationships. Solid project management and organizational skills. Strong competitive instinct required.
