• Associate Director, Brand Design

  • Position Overview

    Oversees all brand design work for Consumer Reports including managing staff, freelancers and budget while serving as a key driver of CR’s design strategy and stewardship of our brand.   Oversees and ensures implementation of brand vision across multiple resources.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Partners with Senior Director, Creative & Brand Marketing to think strategically, set visual strategy & brand identity and translate strategy into creative execution.
    • Leads the design efforts supporting physical and digital products as well as marketing. Drives the creation of collateral, event, and social content with seamless user experience that also meet business objectives.
    • Leads an in-house creative team with a strong “mentor” culture to build brand marketing programs, and support the graphic and user interface design needs of a variety of CR stakeholders.
    • Leverages existing product and brand guidelines to create strategic design experiences, storytelling, marketing campaigns, and other projects across a variety of platforms to produce engaging consumer (and other stakeholder audiences) experiences that drive brand engagement.
    • Serves as a brand steward: manages design, typography, overall visual identity and strategy.
    • Identifies potential new external vendors for design. Oversees contracts with appropriate external resources to complete projects as necessary.  Responsible for the Request for Proposal (RFP) process to engage resources and negotiates details of various vendor contracts and deliverables.
    • Develops on-brand design templates and designs to be used consistently across the organization.
    • Provides oversight and performance feedback on deliverables for both internal and external resources.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications Include

    Bachelor degree in Graphic Design (or a related field) and at least 10+ years experience in brand design. Strong experience with entire design process for print, web and/or mobile products, and event. Requires ability to work collaboratively in a relationship-oriented, fast-paced environment.  Must be proficient in Adobe CS software.  Experience with interactive design, After Effects, working knowledge of HTML and CSS plus.
