  • Position Overview

    The Program Manager - Market Analysis will be central to maintaining a data-driven, consistent market analysis and product recommendation process across CR’s product categories.  This position will continuously evaluate and improve the market analyst functionality that we employ to ensure use of best practices, methods and tools as well as ensuring the appropriate resources to function efficiently, effectively and highly collaborative.  Utilizes expertise and knowledge of landscape to provide insights to business needs and budget recommendations to ensure CR keeps pace in constantly changing marketplace.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develops and maintains a consistent market analysis process across product categories that adheres to industry best practices and aligns with CR’s unbiased, data-driven product testing and rating philosophy.
    • Define standard work products, outputs and templates for market analysts to ensure consistent presentation and thoroughness of work. Identifies training needs and implements training plans on new tools and processes.
    • Partners with Test Managers to ensure market analysts across product categories have access to and are adequately trained on data sources relevant to their area.
    • Identifies potential new external data sources for comprehensive market analysis. Oversees contracts with appropriate external resources to complete projects as necessary.  Responsible for the Request for Proposal (RFP) process to engage resources and negotiates details of various vendor contracts and deliverables.
    • Maintains contractual relationships with current and future market data vendors such as GAP Intelligence. Provides oversight of work of external vendors to ensure strict adherence to negotiated contracts and protocols.
    • In collaboration with Test Managers and/or the Sr. Director of Product Testing, mentors market analysts on new or existing data sources and assist in pulling and interpreting appropriate reports from data sources as needed. Assist market analysts with developing effective product strategy presentations for their assigned categories.
    • Partners with Test Managers to help track market analyst category assignments and work schedules to ensure efficient and effective performance. Recommends product category assignments or reassignments for analysts.
    • Identifies new opportunities for market coverage as well as gaps in current coverage and provides recommendations to address and keep pace in constantly changing marketplace.
    • Oversees the work of market analyst staff; providing feedback on product recommendations and provides feedback on performance.
    • Coordinates and organizes meetings with market analysts and Test Managers to identify any marketplace concerns or day to day operational issues and helps problem solve to ensure CR is able to manage and continue to deliver.
    • As needed, provide assistance to internal stakeholders on time-sensitive requests for ad hoc or advanced market analysis;
    • May serve as a back-up to the market analyst for various product categories during a transition of duties and/or when exploring new market opportunities on a temporary basis.
    • Performs other related duties as necessary.

    Qualifications Include

    Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred. Prior 5-7 years market analysis experience including competitive market trends and product recommendations, preferably in product categories tested by CR. Competitive landscape presentations to stakeholders, extensive use of market analysis data sources and tools. Exceptional project management and data analysis skills required. Ability to negotiate with and manage vendors. Ability to clearly and accurately convey product recommendation rationales and broad market trends to test managers, content creators, and other internal audiences. Experience training staff preferred.
