Appliance Lab Test Technician


The Opportunity

Consumer Reports’ Product Testing team is made up of Test Technicians and Project Leaders who work closely  to conduct a variety of consumer product testing. Data from those tests is then collected  and analyzed. This testing is the basis of our product ratings.


This position will be based in our Yonkers, New York office and it does include a comprehensive benefits package.

What you will do

  • You will be working in our lab setting either independently, or with a team to perform tests on consumer products like large and small appliances.
  • You will follow specified test procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency. 
  • Additionally, you will be entering test data into spreadsheets or a database. 
  • You will need to be comfortable setting up the products to be tested. This includes product assembly as well as setting up test equipment.

About You

  • You have a degree in mechanical engineering, and a passion for learning how things work.
  • Alternatively, you have at least 4 years of experience in product testing or with product repair.
  • You like to fix things like cars, washing machines, or other appliances.
  • You have intermediate level skills with Excel (i.e. you know how to create formulas).
