Digital Newsletter Writer/Editor


The Opportunity

As CR’s Digital Newsletter Writer/Editor, you’ll help develop and write our newest newsletter concept, one that blends a mix of personality with CR’s testing and expertise to deliver entertaining, engaging and information-backed content every week. 


If you’re  an excellent storyteller who is really curious about consumer issues ranging from the basic—why do some front-loading washing machines create mold—to the big—how can everyone get broadband access,  this is your opportunity to help us launch a new product that not only creates a sense of belonging and meaningful participation, but also is so enjoyable that people want to share it with their friends. 


What you will do


  • Conceptualize and write a newsletter that's aimed at new audiences 
  • Dig into and understand CR’s testing, expertise and advocacy efforts in a way that enables you to write about them in an engaging manner. 
  • Collaborate with people  across the organization to find what will become the most interesting content.
  • Leverage your knowledge of what works in newsletters to make our new newsletter something that people look forward to reading.
  • Be aware of news outside CR so that you can pick content more likely to fit what readers are already thinking about and how we can help them in the moment. 
  • Work with our marketing group to analyze newsletter performance and adjust as needed.

About You

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years as a writer in a fast-paced, news-oriented environment, where interactives were part of the content development process.
  • Your talents include excellent storytelling skills, an ability to drive conversation and subject matter expertise around consumer-facing topics. 
  • You are fluent with data, and are comfortable using Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Your experience includes creating, growing, participating-in, and managing user communities.
  • You worked with newsletter publishing systems.

A plus:

  • You have previous experience working on a cross-functional product team or developing or working with a custom platform or CMS.
