The Opportunity

You will be responsible for managing the compliance aspects of the accounting department, including accurately recording transactions and analyzing account balances of Consumer Reports.

 

In order to prioritize the health and safety of all CR employees, this position will be 100% remote until at least September 2021. The interview process will be entirely virtual so that we can protect our valued applicants. 

What you will do

  • You will manage the accounting department’s compliance related to required filings, including sales tax, payroll, Federal and State required informational filings, and other emerging areas
  • Lead the capital determination process of fixed assets, including working with key stakeholders to ensure proper adherence to policy, reporting on fixed assets, researching guidance for non-routine purchases. Lead the physical inventory process to help ensure proper tracking and safeguarding of CR’s assets 
  • You will periodically process payroll and lead reporting for the payroll function, including research and review of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) and various state regulations as it applies to employee compensation and the taxation of benefits. Propose modifications to payroll policies as needed to comply with the applicable regulations 
  • Manage the monitoring and reconciliation of CR’s multi-state sales tax returns (filings performed by a 3rd Party)
  • Analyze and report on: employee-related expenses including fringe benefit costs; salary allocations; other confidential areas 
  • Support the annual audit process; collaborates with auditors and internal staff to provide timely, accurate responses to auditor inquiries 

About You

  • You have BA/BS in Accounting in addition to at least 5 years experience in accounting compliance 
  • You have a solid understanding of GAAP accounting and financial reporting
  • You are highly proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Your experience includes accounting and tax research skills (referencing authoritative literature), journal entry processing, project management, and cross-functional work  
  • Previous payroll experience

 

Big bonus points for:

  • Previous experience with Oracle Financials is preferred and IBM Cognos (TM1) experience is a plus
  • Proficiency in Google G Suite Tools (Forms, Sheet, Doc)
  • Public auditing firm experience
  • Being a CPA license holder
