The Opportunity

In continuing our commitment to creating a safer and more equitable marketplace for consumers, Consumer Reports is creating innovative new ways to share the insights that we gather during the course of our consumer products testing and survey research with manufacturers and other companies and organizations to help them make or advance better and safer products. 

 

In this role, you will function as a specialized resource which allows for a greater depth of knowledge around Consumer Reports’ new insights licensing program, CR Data Intelligence. As an Account Executive, you will develop qualified leads and help map out additional individual targets and market segments where CR can expand its influence and license insights. Unlike other sales or account executive roles, success is not just about hitting the numbers.

 

You will work closely with the CR Data Intelligence team to identify areas where CR Data Intelligence has not yet gained a footprint in the Auto, Appliances and Electronic manufacturer spaces as well as adjacent target markets like regulators, other safety organizations, and suppliers.

What you will do

  • You will Navigate a primarily greenfield territory, analyze market potential and help develop a market strategy to meet CRDI’s growth goals.
  • You will get to know decision makers in potential companies and organizations, gaining their trust, and consistently following up on upcoming opportunities that will help expand CR’s reach and influence for its marketplace change goals, while also helping to grow CR Data Intelligence as a new revenue stream for CR.  
  • Identify potential customers and top of funnel activity; developing  prospecting plans to reach decision makers and work with them to close deals.
  • Effectively sell insights solutions to mid- and senior-level customers, often in R&D, Product, Quality & Testing staff, managing communication and contact strategy over a long (6-12 months) sales cycle.
  • Support mission-centric objectives like industry penetration and upstream impact for consumers.
  • Leverage and develop meaningful relationships with industry experts, actively seek to understand industry trends to help position offerings against competitors.

About You

  • You have bachelor’s degree in addition to a minimum of 5 years’ B2B experience with selling research and insights
  • You have experience in uncovering opportunities (and working daily with colleagues to make a sales number)
  • You are passionate about sales and building positive relationships with customers and you are highly motivated to meet goals
