As a  Project Leader you will be responsible for overseeing testing projects as well as ensuring that testing protocols and procedures are followed, and developing methodologies to meet testing goals and objectives. You will augment the team with your skill-set and investigative leadership, while establishing good practices and collaborating with team members to produce solid repeatable results!

How You’ll Make an Impact:

 

Use your cyber security skills and experience to have a positive impact on world-class manufacturers of IoT products and in improving all consumer’s privacy, safety and security.  Work closely with Consumer Reports Content and Advocacy groups to ensure key findings are disseminated and have an impact to drive public government policies.  Collaborate and leverage work with external organizations and standards bodies to have a broad, long-lasting impact.

 

• You will plan, coordinate and oversee test projects.
• You will implements testing protocols and ensures proper implementation, knowledge of test methodologies, equipment and protocols.
• You will ensure that test data meets established standards for accuracy, repeatability, reproducibility and dependability.
• You will designs and help to build test equipment and develops methods to accomplish goals defined by test protocols as required. 
• You will prepare preliminary test project protocols.
• You will evaluates and recommend improvements to existing test procedures.
• You will actively participate as a member of a product testing and content team, conferring with other team members as necessary to ensure objectives for quality and timeliness are met.
• You will ensure the quality of test projects and strive for continuous quality improvement by celebrating successes and reducing errors.
• You will ensure maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.
• You will ensure ratings are delivered accurately and within established deadlines.
• You will nteract with manufacturers and retailers as necessary.

You’ll Be Highly Rated If:

• You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience with 2 years experience in cybersecurity development and testing with Internet connected devices, mobile apps, and software. 
• You are proficient using spreadsheet software.
• You have excellent written and verbal skills to clearly and accurately report test. methods and results as well as explain them in a way that is understandable by content creators who are not technically knowledgeable.
• You have thorough understanding of and experience with:
  • home-router-based wired (Ethernet) and wireless (802.11x Wi-Fi with encryption) IP networking, router settings and features, and LAN architecture
  • DHCP and commonly-used IP protocols and packet types for both general-purpose computing and Internet of Things (IoT) communications
  • WAN communications standards common to home networks and consumer-level Internet Service Providers (ISPs)
  • tools for monitoring, logging and analyzing networks (Ex: Wireshark, Burpsuite, WiFi Pineapple, etc.)
  • tools for penetration testing (Ex. Metasploit, SSL Strip, Bettercap, Kali Linux, etc.)
  • tools for monitoring and analyzing privacy and security on mobile (e.g. Lumen, Android Studio, Frida, Ida)
  • best-practice principles for keeping personal communications secure from unauthorized monitoring
  • installation of desktop software on the Windows and Mac OS platforms
  • installation of mobile apps on the Android, iOS and Windows platforms

Our Commitment to Fair Pay

At Consumer Reports, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is $96,000 to $110,000. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this range. Compensation for the successful candidate will be informed by the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience.
