CR’s New Ventures team creates and iterates products designed to solve thorny consumer problems. The Growth Product Manager reports to the Associate Director, New Ventures and will focus on developing new ideas and iterating on existing solutions to evolve and scale Upkept, our recently-launched home maintenance app. 

 

Upkept has been named a top new app by Fast Company, nominated for a Webby for best user experience, and featured multiple times in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The product is still in its early days, with plenty of room for a trail-blazer with an entrepreneurial spirit to help build on its success!

 

Under our CRFlex program, this is a hybrid position eligble for remote work.

THE OPPORTUNITY

 

How You’ll Make An Impact:

 

  • Set direction: You’ll shape the product strategy for Upkept, build an experiment-driven roadmap, and own the product success metrics.
  • Evolve the product: You’ll explore, identify, and prioritize opportunities, design and validate solutions, get them out into the world, and make sure that they’re delivering the intended value—for users and the business.
  • Scale, scale, scale: You’ll own product-led growth, partnering closely with User Research, Engineering, Design, and Marketingto to ensure we acquire more customers efficiently, onboard them effectively, deliver value to them consistently, and get them sticking with and recommending us.

 

ABOUT YOU

  • You have successfully built, optimized, and scaled consumer products. You have at least 3 years experience as a product manager, launching, iterating on, and growing successful digital consumer products—with at least 2-years working on consumer mobile apps. 
  • You’re data driven. You’ve spent at least 2 years on a metrics-driven team, forming structured hypotheses to come up with efficient ways to validate solutions, making informed product decisions by A/B testing and analyzing user behavior, and when needed, making tough calls based on incomplete and imperfect information.
  • You’re growth-savvy. You have a solid grasp of product growth and optimization best practices and demonstrated success increasing user acquisition and retention through product growth strategies.
  • You lead change. You know how to inspire and galvanize teams, have experience managing stakeholders, leading through influence, and building cross-functional support to drive forward momentum.
  • You’re unapologetically user-centric. You believe there’s no business value without user value. You put the user first and use your sharp product instinct and insatiable curiosity about what motivates behavior to build intuitive, engaging, and delightful experiences that maximize business impact.
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit. You enjoy blazing new trails and don’t mind ambiguity. You acknowledge when you don't have the answer and enjoy the thrill of discovery and learning. You’re not afraid to fail and learn quickly in order to seize new opportunities.

Our Commitment to Fair Pay:

At Consumer Reports, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is $130,000-$150,000. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this range. Compensation for the successful candidate will be informed by the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies and experience. Salary ranges for union positions are determined by collective bargaining agreement with the NewsGuild of New York.
