As a Product Evaluator/Writer on the team you’ll be involved from start to finish in the process of introducing these products to a wider audience.

You’ll report to the Associate Director, Audience Expansion, but as CR is highly collaborative, you’ll work closely with colleagues on other content and development testing teams, as well as those on our video, design and social media teams.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT

New trends and product categories are heavily touted by social media influencers who are often being compensated to do so. It can be hard for consumers to know who to trust. At CR, we’re completely independent of a manufacturer’s influence.

Your reporting in conjunction with the testing methodologies CR is known for will provide consumers with an accurate and unbiased review and confidence when exercising their buying power. You will:

  • Identify trends and products within CR's areas of focus in home/appliance, food/health and electronics and consumer personas
  • Design the testing methodology to compare products
  • Help create the visual and digital-first reviews and articles we produce to share our findings.
  • Ensure that all content is relevant, timely and cutting-edge

ABOUT YOU

 You’ll Be Highly Rated If:

  • You are a consumer-first journalist. You have earned a degree and have spent at least 5 years reporting with a focus on service journalism, proactively seeking ways to incorporate consumer needs into all you write and produce.
  • You know your way around a testing lab. You bring at least 3 years of experience in product testing and/or evaluation.
  • You write and edit! You have demonstrated a professional level of writing and editing ability throughout your career and across multiple media formats.
  • You are deadline-driven.  You are organized and able to meet rigid deadlines.
  • You understand collaboration is key! You value the contribution of all internal resource groups (e.g. Survey, Lab Techs, etc.).
  • You are skilled in collecting and interpreting data. You are able to use internal and external data, to create the most accurate and in-context story possible.

You'll Be One Of Our Top Picks If:

  • You know products!  You understand them in terms of their design and function and you can apply that to comparative testing.
  • You have strong technical aptitude and the ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate test results
