OVERVIEW

CR is currently seeking a Sr. Director, Head of Product & Design to lead CR's digital membership products. The Head of Product will lead a product and design team that starts with the customer and advocate for customer needs through the strategic planning and product development lifecycle.

 

This role will report to the Chief Experience Officer.

 

Under our CRFlex program, this is a hybrid position and is eligible for remote work up to 80%. The successful candidate must reside within 75 miles of our main office location in Yonkers, NY, Washington DC., or Colchester, CT.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT

The Sr. Director, Head of Product & Design is responsible for overseeing product management and product design, with senior-level responsibility for creating a best-in-class user experience for CR’s flagship website, our core mobile apps, and our digital membership offering. You will own key membership KPI’s and overall product performance for all of CR’s digital products and services, working and aligning with a broad cross-section of stakeholders in the organization.

 

You will start with the customer and build from there, advocating for customer needs through the strategic planning and product development lifecycle. You and your team will design and develop innovative and intuitive experiences, implement scalable solutions, and ensure a world-class end-to-end product experience.

 

You will refine a product and design strategy that supports business goals and aligns with customer goals, working with engineering leaders to prioritize, build, and enhance customer journeys and features as well as establish operating processes to drive systematic improvements to CR's digital experiences based on customer feedback, needs, and behavior.  

ABOUT YOU

You’ll Be Highly Rated If:

  • You have a minimum of 12 years of experience in Product Management and/or as a Product Designer across varied consumer-driven organizations/projects
  • You have a minimum of 12 years of demonstrated success managing consumer digital products with revenue and engagement KPIs
  • You have at least 8 years experience leading managers and teams of 10+, as well as contractors across multiple projects and digital touch-points, including mobile app and online experiences
  • You have proven digital product management skills and experience including oversight of diverse team of product managers and designers responsible for a portfolio of digital products
  • You have demonstrated competency with business performance metrics, analytics, budgeting and business models related to the digital products and services
  • You have prior success working at a senior level inside a complex organization, coupled with entrepreneurial and start-up experience as a plus
  • You have leadership experience in an Agile environment with a multi-team, matrixed structure
  • You have proven experience with rapid, iterative design and development processes
  • You have familiarity with e-commerce platforms, content management systems, data storage, taxonomy, and usability
  • You have a track record of building and mentoring high performing teams

  • You have a portfolio (if coming from a design background) or can speak to case studies that demonstrates experience creating great user-centered solutions across digital touch-points that deliver business results

FAIR PAY & A JUST WORKPLACE

At Consumer Reports, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is $250k to $295k. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this range. Compensation for the successful candidate will be informed by the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience.
