Consumer Reports’ Product Testing team is made up of Test Technicians and Project Leaders who work closely  to conduct a variety of consumer product testing. Data from those tests is then collected  and analyzed. This testing is the basis of our product ratings.   This position will be based in our Yonkers, New York office and it does include a comprehensive benefits package.

Children are disproportionately affected, with unintentional injuries their leading cause of death in the United States.   Join CR in our efforts to help create a safer marketplace for these children who too often die or are injured by products in our home that seem innocuous but can actually be responsible for a terrible toll. In this role, you will provide statistical support for research and product development at Consumer Reports. You will leverage and synthesize data from product testing, survey, and external data sources to enhance our development of product ratings and consumer insights.   The role sits within the Statistics & Data Science Department, which is responsible for leading data analysis for internal projects at Consumer Reports. Statisticians work in partnership with CR’s Survey, Content, Data Intelligence, Advocacy, and Digital teams to ensure that information presented in Consumer Reports is based on sound scientific methods.

As a Senior Data Scientist with Consumer Reports, you will be responsible for supporting data and analytics driven research and product development. You will provide new insights and innovative internal and external client solutions through the use of advanced statistical analysis, data mining, and data visualization techniques. You will leverage and synthesize data from survey, product testing, and external sources to enhance the organization’s development of product ratings and insights.   You will be responsible for leading data synthesis and analysis for external facing products and content, in partnership with multiple CR teams. You will take a leadership role in identifying and prioritizing the department’s and organization’s data analysis needs, and offer and execute innovative approaches to developing new products and insights. You will be involved in cross-divisional collaboration with various stakeholders to acquire and synthesize data, understand both internal and external analytic and product development goals, and communicate and package potential solutions effectively.

The Electronics Test Team evaluates and tests electronic products such as TV's, printers, laptops, speakers, and routers.  These tests may include measuring performance such as TV picture quality, evaluating the security of connected devices, and reviewing use agreements in regards to privacy concerns for the consumer.  Testing can vary from determining how quickly a printer prints photos to determining which speakers produce the best sound.     As a member of the Electronics Test Team, you will assist existing team members in testing various electronics devices. This position will be based in our Yonkers, New York office and we do offer free shuttles from Manhattan.    This is a great opportunity to start a career in consumer electronics testing!

We’re looking for a lab testing manager who lives and breathes privacy, cybersecurity, and Internet of Things products. Our experts put thousands of products to the test each year in our 63 labs. These result in product ratings and also recommendations to manufacturers to make their products better, safer, and more secure for consumers.   With significant investment in our Digital Lab, we will incorporate privacy and data security scores for all of the connected product categories we test. We will also screen for problems with privacy policies and data security, which often results in discovering and disclosing vulnerabilities.     In this role, you will manage a consumer product testing team who will implement  time-bound projects to incorporate privacy and security tests for products ranging from TVs, to laptops, to fridges, to robotic vacuums. You will oversee all aspects of a wide range of product testing projects related to privacy and information security of network and Internet-connected consumer products (both hardware and software). You will own planning, development, deployment, support and successful delivery of all phases of assigned product testing work as part of an overarching marketplace change strategy.
