How You’ll Make an Impact:   Your product marketing experience plus your critical thinking and ability to understand and combine information from uniquely different data sources will allow you to understand the dynamics and drivers for consumer purchases in your category.  You will create the ideal model selection criteria for your product categories rooted in both hard and soft data we may have access to.  Your work will include identifying data sources and industry contacts to ensure that the models you identify for testing are “front of mind” for consumers.  You will work with the testing and editorial teams to ensure they are aware of industry trends and consumer purchasing patterns.   - You will select models for testing in various product categories, utilizing data from a variety of information resources (internal and external). - You will identify product models that have “buzz” or will otherwise be of particular interest to consumers. - You will gain understanding of the market landscape and new product introductions in new and established product categories. - You will utilize available analytic tools to determine search trends such as seasonality, key segments and features, key brands, popular models and other search terms pertinent to a particular category. - You will map out a schedule of model introductions to facilitate resource planning for assigned product categories. - You will engage with product manufacturers and monitor industry announcements to understand future product plans. - You will monitor the retail landscape with respect to shifts in market share, promotional behavior, price points, and product assortment. - You will populate and maintain the model database including model pricing and availability data for tested products; establish a regular schedule for pricing and availability maintenance. - You will review articles prior to publishing for accuracy. - You will work with stakeholders to assess opportunities in new product categories.

How You’ll Make an Impact:   You will develop and execute our advocacy strategies on commercial privacy issues, manage and mentor other advocates, and work closely with state and federal policymakers in crafting better legal protections. You will ensure CR is viewed as a leader on privacy issues by speaking at events, testifying before Congress, and communicating to companies, the press, funders and allies on issues around our strategic goals and initiatives.   - You will serve as the policy lead on privacy issues. - You will support the Director, Technology Policy and senior leadership across key areas of the organization including testing, content, development, marketing in developing a long-term vision and a proactive organizational and marketplace strategy to empower and protect consumers, in coordination with a federal and state advocacy strategy. - You will manage policy staff on privacy to achieve CR policy goals. - You will partner with Director, Technology Policy to develop coordinated testimony, comments, letters and other formal documents that reflect CR’s strategic goals. - You will represent CR – and the interests of consumers – as a CR spokesperson for policy related initiatives and by speaking at events, testifying before Congress, and communicating to the press, funders and allies on issues around our strategic goals and initiatives. - You will ensure CR is viewed as an influential leader on privacy issues. - You will partner with colleagues across product testing, journalism, communications, development, and digital products to identify opportunities where our expertise in testing, ratings and other evidential findings can help spur changes in the marketplace, policy or regulation. Work closely with partners in content and testing to identify and advance marketplace solutions, including coordinated communications with the companies who are in direct position to implement them. - You will use the scientific evidence generated by CR’s testing, research and content teams, identify critical gaps in consumer rights that can be addressed through marketplace and policy change. - You will marshal results of testing and journalistic inquiry for use in work through Congress, the regulatory agencies, and where needed, the courts, to drive strong standards for products. - You will drive creative solutions in concert with CR’s Mobilization team and membership to advance consumer engagement by designing and launching consumer campaigns that champion the rights of consumers and achieve policy, regulatory, and marketplace victories. - You will identify, secure, and manage external coalitions with other non-profit organizations and influentials that add value and capacity to our work. - You will participate in the design and execution of assigned CIA’s policy strategy, with its expressed focus on changing marketplace behaviors to prioritize the interests of consumers. - You will partner with the VP of Development and others to support the engagement of funders and donors to secure major investments in support of this work. - You will advance the strategic and tactical work across multiple divisions within the organization with grace, respect, and diplomacy.

How You’ll Make an Impact:   Your engineering experience plus your critical thinking, problem-solving and technical knowledge will support our product testing labs. You will work with National Instruments hardware and software to automate product testing processes and data collection, and additionally maintain current systems through calibration and troubleshooting failures. This will include specifying the appropriate sensors needed, development of custom software, identifying root causes of failures, and the ability to design custom test fixtures.  - You will plan, coordinate and install data acquisition systems. - You will support maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment. - You will design and help to build test equipment and develop methods to accomplish goals defined by test protocols as required. - You will evaluate and recommend improvements to existing test procedure. - You will create data collection and analysis tools in Appian, Excel, and LabVIEW. - You will develop new test protocols and ensure proper documentation. - You will ensure that test data meets established standards for accuracy, repeatability, reproducibility and dependability. - You will research new test procedures, and evaluate and recommend improvements to existing test procedures. - You will be first in line to address testing issues that need immediate attention by employing temporary counter measures followed by permanent solutions if required - Support consumer product testing as needed.

How You’ll Make an Impact:   You will help CR operate effectively by enhancing and maintaining CR’s financial systems, including organizing and analyzing data to solve system issues as they arise. You will review data and policies to identify ways of automating tasks to streamline various processes across the organization.   - You will provide Oracle Financials. How You’ll Make An Impact:   In addition to making purchases on behalf of CR, the Acquisition Agent serves as the organization’s primary source of information as to product availability, ensuring our market analysts and writers have up to date on product placement in the marketplace.     In this position, you will be responsible for adhering to the scheduled purchasing of approximately 4-5 products per week, primarily in the small appliance category.  As one of the product “experts” in your category, you may even have the opportunity to assist our technicians, on a as needed basis, with product testing.
