CR’s investigative journalism team has alerted consumers to the potentially dangerous levels of toxic chemicals in their drinking water and arsenic in their baby food, taken both a well-known manufacturer and the government to task for keeping a product linked to infant fatalities on the market and, and shared how neighborhoods with a disproportionately high number of people of color and low-income residents are adversely affected when Amazon warehouses come to town.    We're looking for an Investigative Reporter well-versed in consumer safety issues to join our award-winning team. In partnership with the Special Projects Director, our safety experts, plus our Testing, Survey, and Statistics teams, you’ll conceive, create, and produce stories of impact—including deeply reported enterprise and investigative pieces plus daily news projects—in order to champion consumers’ interests and change people’s lives.      Responsibilities:   - Produce deeply reported stories for all of CR’s platforms that focus on consumer safety issues, including those related to product and food safety. - Play a strategic role in conceiving, executing,and shaping content that bridge ideas from across the organization including from testing, advocacy, communications, and other divisions. - Work with content leaders and editors across platforms, as well as advocacy leadership and research, testing, and insight teams to produce investigations that are likely to create high impact in the marketplace. - Follow news in assigned beats in order to create original and updated reporting in Consumer Reports areas of focus. - Partner with Social Media and Video teams to help leverage CR’s work with external audiences.

In this time of constant change and upheaval, consumers depend on Consumer Reports to help inform their choices and advocate on their behalf.  We're looking for a Director of Enterprise Strategy and Planning to support the design and execution of CR’s strategy, from initial development to continuous iteration, helping our social enterprise continue to advance its mission.   Reporting to the SVP, Chief Strategy Officer, you serve as a strategic cross-organizational thought partner effectively advancing growth and innovation efforts. You'll leverage your expertise forecasting and analyzing marketplace dynamics and your ability to think and operate at the macro and micro levels to create and scale concrete, practical strategies that drive revenue and impact.  You will engage leaders and staff at all levels to drive CR’s priorities and ensure teams effectively balance consumer needs and financial expectations.     Your work will focus on three key areas: enterprise strategy, growth and innovation and special projects.  Working closely with matrixed teams, you will shape deliberate and emergent strategies, often in new spaces and in contexts of high ambiguity; foster a results-driven culture based on learning and experimentation; and navigate complex issues in ways that enable multiple, diverse stakeholders to drive action and hold accountability. You will also apply scenario thinking as well as corporate and social sector frameworks for creation and diffusion of innovation – including products, services, and social movements – in service of CR’s growth agenda.  Key Responsibilities:  Enterprise Strategy - Develop strategic roadmaps including key choices about “where to play” and “how to win” to achieve CR’s mission of a fair and just marketplace. - Lead cross-organizational working groups shaping the overall approach to choice-making surfacing relevant issues and tradeoffs to enable effective, efficient decision-making. - Partner with CR leaders and outside experts/firms to provide strategic insights, new approaches, and strategies for short and long-term enterprise growth and sustainability –and assess the core competencies and skill sets needed to deliver. - Ensure that right-sized data, both internal and external, is brought to bear and informs decisions, with an understanding of risks and mitigation approaches. - Serve as an ambassador for the enterprise strategy and cultural priorities, presenting work to CR’s full team, leadership, and Board/Committees. Growth and Innovation - Support the development of a strong innovation pipeline that accelerates the development of adjacent/new products and services for CR’s growth. - Partner with leaders to define and deliver a portfolio strategy and set of norms to bridge across the core membership work and newer models (e.g., brand licensing, data intelligence, new ventures).  - Advise on facilitates and provides strategic thought partnership to teams to further development of specific growth products and services in close partnership with them Special Projects - Lead cross-functional teams in making strategic choices to achieve organization business and impact goals. - Work with teams across all of CRs functions (including Social Impact, Marketplace Change Strategies, Research Testing and Insights, Content, and Marketing, New Products & Services) to help CR focus on areas of growth and competitive differentiation (Sustainability, Financial Fairness, Digital Rights & Safety). - Engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization to drive CR’s agenda for relevance and sustainability.

CR is interested in expanding the range of products that we test so we can provide consumers with a wider scope of the category reviews and ratings they have come to depend on.  As Senior Product Test Technician you will report to the Mgr. Test Technicians, in order to update, modify and establish the testing protocols and lab procedures that will help our in-house experts determine which of these products will make the cut.    Responsibilities - Work with Project Leader to conduct and/or review a variety of product tests and record results according to protocol. - Ensure test data meets established standards. - Analyze and correlate test data for review by others. - Assist with the development of test methodology and design of testing equipment. - Build test equipment and develop methods to meet test protocols, as required. - Work cross functionally with stakeholders across the organization include testing, survey and content as needed. - Prepare, maintain,calibrate and repair (as needed) testing devices and equipment. - Assist with the training of other Technicians. - Help with testing in other labs as needed.
